Artist Residency at The Box Plymouth September 2023
Exhibition at The Box March-April 2024
The Making of Home was a twelve-week workshop interview series, exploring themes around the home under the category of Move, Eat, Rest, Clean this allows the participant to respond in many different capacities depending on their individual living experience. Through these workshops research began to address home-making practices through memory, sharing stories of homelands. As a group, we explored Plymouth (UK) through mapping to uncover how we can connect with the city, through culturally relevant shopping trips, sharing places with members of the group meet up, and how they connect to the landscape. The activities not only deepen a sense of well-being and connectivity but can become a touchpoint for members to share their experiences of displacement and begin a form of expression of identity, while grounded and connected in their home countries, lived experiences can be traumatic and isolating in arrival countries. Creative mapping explores the entanglement of domestic spaces of forcibly displacees’.

“I remember home the most in the smell mapping session, we had some smells of flowers it reminded me of flower my mother used to take care of, and the medicine especially teas that she would give me.”
