The research project The Making of Home: a feminist approach to the curatorial practice of object archaeology in the context of forced displacement and domesticity, responds to theories around spatial justice through practical-based research from a feminist curatorial position. Addressing homemaking through material archaeology by examining the embedded knowledge of mapping through memory work. As objects of the home transport experiences of forced displacement, they bring to the surface new knowledge within the decolonial curatorial discourse. The research is focused on lone male displacement within the UK, aiming to untangle the systemic structures of gendered norms associated with homemaking, using making-practices to potentially provide a safe space away from criminalisation and towards an enriching contribution to society.
